Size: 1.5"
Found this on my patio screen. Thought it was a walking stick at first until I noticed it's front limbs. Looks like a mantid of some sort, but not sure which.

Moved
Moved from Emesaya.

Just got
a shot of one of these myself that Eric identified as a thread-legged assassin. Emesaya genus. I thought it was a mantid also.

Thank you! I am going to let
Thank you! I am going to let the little guy back outside now. It's been in a jar with some fresh basil for a couple hours while I've been observing it. Neat little guy, really. Could have sworn by its front limbs that it was a mantis of some sort. Cool to know that it's an assassin bug though. Thanks again!

Find some spider webs:-)
These insects habitually hang out (literally!) in spider webs, presumably eating leftover prey items, so you might want to release it in the vicinity of a few cobwebs, in the barn, shed, crawlspace...

Yes...
You can tell by the presence of a beak that this is not a walking stick or a mantid.
