Thread-waisted Wasp? - Ammophila

Thread-waisted Wasp? - Ammophila
Alamogordo, NM , Otero County, New Mexico, USA
September 9, 2008
Is this a Thread-waisted Wasp? Thanks!

Ammophila
I'm not sure which one. Maybe A. pictipennis but I'm not positive.

Not A. pictipennis.
Ammophila pictipennis has decidedly yellow wings, no silver markings on the lateral faces of the thorax. This image, though really nice, probably won't yield a species. Just too many that look alike; the genus needs revision; images alone aren't usually enough.
