Hey Katherine - looks kinda like some caterpillars we get at Bentsen every summer, which I have been calling Schaus' Tussock Moth. If yours are the same species, the host plant is still undocumented; any idea what it was eating?

sugar water. The red bar that it is crawling on is from one of our hummer feeders. Plants in the surrounding garden include cenizo, red sage, turk's cap, skeletonbush, huisache and ebony.
