Syrphid Fly - Scaeva pyrastri - male

Syrphid Fly - Scaeva pyrastri - Male
Memorial Center, Puyallup, Pierce County, Washington, USA
September 10, 2008
Size: 15 mm
I brought this guy home in a cup, photographed him, and then he got away...flew up against the screen door. I kept picking him up, he kept flying off. I think he spit on me with brown stuff once. He even tried to beat me away with his wings at one point. Finally he gave up and just sat on my finger so I could get these shots.
