Your spider...
This my friend is An incredible spider. I brought one home and watched it for 2 weeks setting up a natural enclosure for a nice little photo shoot. This is a Yellow garden Spider...Also called Black and Yellow Garden Spider and Common Garden spider.

Scientific Name: Argiope Aurantia
Family: Araneidae
This spider is a large Orbweaver.

You should toss it some small live insects and watch how it feeds. The insect looks as if its melting as the spider rolls it's mushy body into a ball. :)

Mushy Mess
Hi, Kevin
The Yellow Garden spiders are plump and plentiful this year, well fed by hapless prey. They make great photo subjects, especially on cloudy days.

Nice find!
Can you post the image a second time so we can put one in each place? We'll move this one to Argyrodes. You can post the new one directly to aurantia.
