Cotinis on bait - Cotinis

Most of the Cotinis-type beetles I have encountered down here have come to my butterfly bait. A caterpillar of Spodoptera ornithogalli (Yellow-striped Armyworm) is visible in the background; the original photo also included an out-of-focus Mesquite Borer (Placosternus difficilis) but I cropped it out.
