What the heck?

What the heck?
Lapeer, MI, Lapeer County, Michigan, USA
June 29, 2005
Size: nearly microscopic
Wow! I just happened to notice this extremely tiny bug on my doorwall today. There's a pond just feet away, so I'm curious about what this is.

Not a nymph...
but the cast exuvia of a tiny mayfly subimago. The gray area at the thorax is the contracted wing covering. Given the size and the proximity to a pond, my best guess is that it was a caenid mayfly, probably Caenis.

Looks like a mayfly nymph. T
Looks like a mayfly nymph. There are probably mayflies laying eggs in your pond, and this nymph crawled out looking for a place to molt.
