Pondside Pyralid Moth - Munroessa icciusalis

Pondside Pyralid Moth - Munroessa icciusalis
Neebish Island, Chippewa County, Michigan, USA
June 26, 2005
Beautiful moth attracted to light on a garage near woods, swamp, and open water. Moth was perched head-down on the side of a wall (I rotated the image 180°).

Pretty
These are very abundant at a local nature center. I had many attracted to my MV lamp one night. Even during the day, if I stare across the pond weeds, I can see them flitting about. I can only spot them if they fly, because they usually manage to perch upsidedown under vegetation.
