Saddleback caterpillar - Acharia stimulea

Saddleback caterpillar - Acharia stimulea
mobile, mobile County, Alabama, USA
September 2, 2008
Found these little guys the hard way! WoW, what a sting these saddlebacks have. The spots that look like eyes is actually its rear end...Perhaps to warn predators even further. One little touch and you learn, I know!!! Still an awesome looking little creature.

Moved

I'm new to the BugGuide commu
I'm new to the BugGuide community and was wondering why some photos are 'moved'. Where are they moved to?

These images were on the
page of general Lepidoptera images. We have moved them to the guide page for Acharia stimulea. Because of that the scientific name now appears in the title. And if you click on Images you will see dozens of images of Acharia rather than random images of moths and butterflies. You can also see other info on the Info or Taxonomy tabs. Basically it is just a question of where the images are posted to in the guide. The more we know about the creature in the image, the deeper into the guide it can go. Check the string of blue text above the image and you will know where any particular image has been placed. Meanwhile all your images are still accessible to you by clicking on "Your Images" at the upper right of the screen.
