Size: ~15mm
This looks like some type of Pyralid moth to me, possibly in the genus Dioryctria. I really like the metallic coloring on its wings. Any help with ID would be appreciated.

I agree on the genus and suggest you move this to the Genus page with the hope someone else will comment. To me, it seems close to Dioryctria zimmermani (hodges 5852). The Zimmerman Pine Moth is listed as a pest of pines in your area.

I originally thought it was a different family, but then looked a little longer and found the similar images in Dioryctria. It's fun to get one right now and then. :) Thanks!
