Wolf spider - Hogna carolinensis

Wolf spider - Hogna carolinensis
Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado, USA
September 18, 2008
Size: BL 1"
My coworker caught this wolf spider in one of our animal exhibits (at the zoo). I'm hoping it can be identified further from these pics. Not sure if you can tell sex from these pictures, either. I browsed through the wolf spider picture, and I believe the carapace pattern and eyes look most like Genus Hogna.

Male
Lynette is correct.

male?
I think I see swollen palps in your face shot. It's hard to tell for certain. With those orange fangs and spots on the underside of the legs I guess Hogna carolinensis.

I think you're right
I looked through more of those pictures and comments and it does look like carolinensis. Thanks!

Flip her over and you should
Flip her over and you should see a jet-black sternum and abdomen.
