metallic-edged moth - Chrysoteuchia topiarius

metallic-edged moth - Chrysoteuchia topiarius

the edge looks silver to the camera, seemed maybe a little more toward bronze in person, definitely stood out as an interesting specimen.

5391 - Topiary Grass-veneer Moth - Chrysoteuchia topiaria
Fantastik Foto, Scott! This specimen is so fresh and color rich (and westerly darker) compared to what I thought of as a pretty good photo of this species from my yard in Maryland, that my moth looks sick by comparison. I didn't recognize your moth and asked Jim Vargo to ID it based on specimens in his collection, east and west. As evidence he sent me several photos of his pinned specimens. They looker sicker still (well, after all, they are very dead).

thanks!
People often ask why some cameras cost twice as much as others, and if its worth it. This is why. Yes it is. And I didn't even sell a limb to afford the *really* expensive one... Anyway, this is the first one of these I've seen and it was quite eye-catching. I'd love to know what purpose such reflective highlights serve.

Crambine Snout Moths
I can't tell which one. See guide page
