Tachinid Fly - Ptilodexia
West of Benson, Bordering Cochise County, Arizona, USA
August 11, 2008
Size: 3/4" approx
I spotted this outside of my back door in a rural desert area about six miles west of Benson, AZ.
At first I thought it was an "ordinary" house fly type, but on closer look I know it is something different.
Is this of the Robber Fly species?
