Red Dragonfly - Sympetrum - male

Red Dragonfly - Sympetrum - Male
Chittenden, Rutland County, Vermont, USA
September 20, 2008
Size: 5cm
I believe this image is of the Red Dragonfly - Libellula croceipennis. If anyone thinks I might be incorrect, please feel free to say so. Seymour Kaplan

Moved
Moved from Dragonflies.

Not going to be easy
Looks to be a Sympetrum, and even the experts aren't certain how many species there really are! With that red face it could be S. rubicundulum, but it could very well be one of the other three that look just like it.

Are you sure it isn't Red Dragonfly - Libellula croceipennis - Adult Male?
