Locust - Schistocerca americana - Female

Size: 8 cm?
Ok, it's not really a locust, but that was my first thought when I saw it. I'm pretty sure it's a Schistocerca grasshopper, possibly Schistocerca americana. That red 'spot' I think may actually be a small parasitic mite & not a true marking.
