Stick bug - Diapheromera femorata

Stick bug - Diapheromera femorata
Chiwaukee Prairie, Pleasant Prairie, Kenosha County, Wisconsin, USA
September 21, 2008
Size: 6 inches + / -
I'm used to seeing stick bugs that look like brown sticks. This one looks like it has a praying mantis colored body and a tree cricket shaped head. Sorry, it wouldn't stay still and this is the only photo that wasn't blurred.

Female.
This is a female Diapheromera femorata. I know! Sexual dimorphism in walkingsticks can be extreme.
