Glyphodes pyloalis
I think this one may be 5197 – Beautiful Glyphodes Moth
(Glyphodes pyloalis)
also called Lesser Mulberry Snout Moth. Take a look at the photos on mpg. Randy's shot there looks just like yours.

Nina

Dead on Nina...
but why do you think there is such a difference in the three moths on MPG? Standard variance or sex? Whatever the reason, this moth is a perfect match...

I don't know...
I can't find info on this particular moth in any of the books I have--I only knew where to look on MPG b/c of the shape and colors and I'd skimmed through the thumbnails there before hunting for something else.

If I had to guess, I'd say perhaps differences in color are sex specific... but there are so few specimens to compare to visually that it's really just a guess. Also, the pinned specimen is faded in color (as many are) so really there are only two to look at on mpg and two here on BG.

Nina

How about Glyphodes sibillalis?
Forestry images. Is the second MPG moth misidentified? Should it be 5198? The pinned specimen looks correctly ID'd as 5198.

I think you are right!
It does look as if one of the images on 5197 belongs on 5198.

Just realized that we and Nina
refer to two different pinned specimens. Sorry for the confusion. There are correctly identified images of pinned specimens of both 5197 and 5198.

5198
J & J, yours is the better match. Spot on.

Look similar to this moth - not an ID
Probably 5147 -- Epipagis huronalis
