Little Robber Fly - Atomosia

Little Robber Fly - Atomosia
Fort Bragg, Cumberland County, North Carolina, USA
July 1, 2005
One of the little ones.

Atomosia
Classic Atomosia pose: head down on a flat surface around humans (fences, walls, driveways, cars). Likely A puella. Though there are several species. A puella seems to be far more common than the rest. Around my house A. puella outnumbers A sayii by 100 to one. A sayii has long orange legs and is easily separated.
