Hard to say
Can't really tell from the photo, but could be a male.
If you still have it, look at the pectines (combs) on the underside. If they are "large" and the innermost teeth touch, overlap, or nearly so, then it is a male.

I just found Brett's great BugGuide page here:

thank you for the information about determining the sex of Vaejovis carolinianus.

a short time ago i had found a website that addressed the matter. i tried to find it again today but couldn't.

what i do remember, after looking at another site showing a ventral view of V. c. (http://webs.lander.edu/rsfox/invertebrates/vaejovis.html) is this: below the sternum is the genital operculum, followed by the basal piece. these three sections are rather narrow compared to the remaining body segments which are quite broad. also: the genital operculum is directly below the last set of legs. if there are two segments, side by side, this is a female; one segment a male.

Can't tell you the sex of this but they sure are cool. I have a adult and I tiny baby of these just a few feet away. They were collected here in Warren Co. just last week. I have been feeding them small moths and even today the adult feed on a Japanese beetle grub. I'm hoping to get more of them soon.

soon
is a good idea joshua basham as we are fast approaching the chilly side of the year and these creatures will soon have slack interest in being out and about.

thanks for the comments and enjoy your new pets. (sit! stay! don't sting!)
