Could anyone let me know if this is Scaphinotus angusticollis.

This is either in the genus Scaphinotus or Sphaeroderus, depending on the size. Scaphinotus species are large, and Sphaeroderus species are more minute

It was rather big for the beetles I have seen here, body about 5/8 inch I would say. Thank you for your note.

Appears so.
Genus is certainly correct, and in overall appearance looks closest to S. angusticollis....
