Bombyliidae - Poecilanthrax willistonii

Bombyliidae - Poecilanthrax willistonii
Near Newspaper Rock, San Juan County, Utah, USA
September 11, 2008
Size: 15mm
These flies are abundant in the deserts of southeast Utah. I would love it if someone can put a species on this.

Note how the penultimate abdominal segment is slightly lighter in color than the others. This is characteristic of Poecilanthrax willistonii.
