spider - Hogna carolinensis

spider - Hogna carolinensis
Assaria, Saline County, Kansas, USA
September 25, 2008
Size: est. 1" body
I am not able to give a positive ID of spiders, but my estimate is some sort of water spider. This one was perched on top of a chicken-wire fence just begging for it's picture. Close to sundown and low light so I used a tripod to try to capture the details. If you are familiar with the ID, please feel free to move this to it's proper place.

Moved
Moved from Wolf Spiders. I agree with Jebus. It matches Jeff H's images well.

Moving -
to family page for now...

Lycosidae
It resembles a male Hogna carolinensis. But, I'm not an expert, so hopefully one will verify.

Compare

Lovely shots by the way. I don't normally see wolf spiders climbing fences. :)

It has the eyes of a wolf spider
You can start searching through the Lycosidae while you wait to hear from an expert.
