Giant Water Bug - Lethocerus uhleri

Giant Water Bug - Lethocerus uhleri
Kenner, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, USA
September 27, 2008
Found at night in a parking lot under bright lights.

I think this is Lethocerus americanus but would like a second opinion. Thanks in advance!

Just wanted to say great pics
Just wanted to say great pics, and does anyone think it ended up in the lit-parking lot at night thinking it was flying into a body of water? Just curious as to why it'd be in a parking lot....

This hasn't been identified to species yet but...
...a common name for the Giant Water Bug (Lethocerus americanus) besides 'Toe Biter' is 'Electric Light Bug'. Like many bugs, these are attracted to light. I have found several of these and all of the have been in parking lots or gas stations at night near relatively large bodies of water.

And thanks for the kind words :)
