Fire Ants (Solenopsis invicta) - workers
Color pattern, size, lack of propodeal spines and two-segmented antennal clubs leave no doubt.

Maybe because of the water table, these ants made a linear soil disturbance that looked like a mole tunnel, rather than the typical fire ant mounds--I didn't see any of those around.
