Variegated Fritillary in Saskatchewan Canada - Euptoieta claudia
Rowan's Ravine Provincial Park, Saskatchewan, Canada
September 10, 2008
Would like to have Saskatchewan on the data map, these are a common butterfly on the southern prairies.

Thanks for posting.
It's good to see another area added to the data map and interesting to know when the fritillaries are flying in Saskatchewan. Keep those butterflies coming!

thx
Thanks, Ron - they are a beautiful sight to see! There is one area within this provincial park that is full of fritillaries, Red Admirals, Milbert's Tortoiseshells, and those big ole grasshoppers (the grey and the brown long ones). I'm petrified of the big grasshoppers, but wade into them to get the butterfly pics! LOL!

well gee-wiz
Get some hopper photos too! They don't bite.

Of course I'm a grasshopper nut : )

added grasshoppers
You're a grasshopper nut? EWWWW! I'll pick up snakes and spiders, but I guess being chased by one's bratty brother when I was little, with him holding these big ugly Carolina grasshoppers "did me in", I still have a phobia of them. However, in the interest of getting "sask bugs" onto the map, I still take pics with my ever-present camera.

PS - I added 2 grasshopper pics.

My wife says EWWWW too
But my kids love them.

ewww
Well as long as your kiddies don't chase your wife with them, she's fine! LOL. Glad someone else is scared of these big monsters. :)
