Great series...
depicting the interaction of all these florae and faunae. Have you observed this often or was it a case of right-place-right-time?

 
Yes I have.
This series of images required some new-found patience, a slightly awkward posture and considerable breath-holding. I watched the fly patrol around that area of the holly bush for about 10 minutes. I captured many images, getting a few good ones of her hovering and finally, swooping in to lay the egg. I turned blue getting that image. The ant immediately removing the egg was a surprise.

Earlier, last month, I caught an ovipositor but no good image of the act. Followed the eggs to hatch. There were no ant attendants in that episode.
