Beetle - Alobates pensylvanicus

Beetle - Alobates pensylvanicus
Douglas County, Georgia, USA
September 30, 2008
Size: about 20 - 25 mm
Found sitting on an old log during daylight. Individual who was with me claimed this was a Darkling Beetle. A more positive ID would be greatly appreciated.

looks like Alobates pennsylvanica...
the Individual was right

Not a challenge, but a matter of curiosity
Can you distinguish A. pennsylvanica from A. morio from a dorsal view?

Thank you
Thank you, I appreciate the quick response. I'll inform my partner he was right.
