A lovely, large ant!
Pachycondyla villosa is a widely distributed Neotropical species that enters southern Texas. It has many congeners in the Tropics, but only this one and P. harpax make it north of Mexico. P. chinensis and P. stigma are two smaller species that occur in the southeastern US, but both appear to be introduced.

Moved
Moved from Ants. Thank you both!

Panther Ant

Right guess
This is indeed a worker of the Panther Ant (Pachycondyla villosa, Ponerinae).
