Crane fly
I think that's a crane fly. The long proboscis is unusual; most crane flies don't have one like that. For a variety that does -- and this is not an ID of yours -- compare

Thanks for your comment. Is my insect for ID the same insect as this one I submitted Sept. 19? http://bugguide.net/node/view/226916 It does not have the long proboscis.

 
Different
I think they are different species. There are many species of crane fly. You can find information on Northeast species here. I don't know how similar your crane flies are to mine.
