... as I am strictly a rank beginner, but I took a look at the tiger moth species listed for Orange County on the Butterflies & Moths of NA website and Salt Marsh Moth is definitely the closest match in appearance. Plus, I mean, you found it in a salt marsh, that's got to help your case! I bet you'd be safe moving it to the species page...
