Arizona unknown spider - Argiope trifasciata

Arizona unknown spider - Argiope trifasciata
Tucson, Pima County, Arizona, USA
October 4, 2008
Size: 3 to 4 inches
This spider has found a home in my front yard in Tucson, Arizona. I am curious about what kind of spider this is, as I have never seen one before. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Argiope trifasciata egg sack
I have an egg sack that this female left behind, and it has not hatched yet. The sack fell off the webb and I saved it and put it on mh porch away from predators. I am wondering when they hatch and if they are still alive. The sack looks like a kettle drum about the size of a dime. Will it look different if the little ones hatch?
