Railing Jumper - male

Railing Jumper - Male
Great Falls, Montgomery County, Maryland, USA
April 25, 2008
Found this little jumper on a wooden railing over the C&O Canal at Great Falls, MD. I hadn't seen one like this before. Anyone know what it is?

Moved

Male
Paraphidippus aurantia.

Herschel,
Aurantius was my first thought as well, but looking closer I think we were mistaken. The few adult males I've photographed had very little scale cover on the palps, and the scales were never white. Also the chelicerae should be really huge, but here they are weak. The carapace here is a little too narrow, and that pair of spots is bugging me.

Not sure what this is so I'll move back to family for now. Open to suggestions.

Interesting
Thank you. I hope we find out what it is. =)

Thanks so much!
Is this a young one, that it's black and white and not colorful like others I see in this section?

The colorful ones
are females. Yours is an adult male.

I haven't had much experience with this species, but I did rear just one of these from the 2nd to 5th instar last year, and it was black with white spots and green iridescent scales at every stage. Very unusual.

How odd
but very cool that you were able to watch it go through its stages.

I think
The adult males are always pretty close to black and white with some iridescence.
