Acanthomyops is actually a Lasius

I was going through my book, "Ants of North America, A Guide to the Genera" by Brian Fisher and Stefan Cover, particularly page 103 and found Acanthomyops is synominized in the genus Lasius, specifically the Claviger group.

Hmmmm...
Isn't this the same discussion you started here?

Yes it is...
but no one has made any changes yet to the taxonomy of that group from What I can see.

As soon as there is agreement (preferably from one of the Hymenoptera experts) I or one of the other editors will move everything over. I'm just waiting for broader approval.

Now a subgenus of Lasius
There are a few recent papers dealing with molecular studies and Acanthomyops is found to be within the genus Lasius, and Philip Ward in 2005 (A Synoptic Review of the Ants of California) changed the status of the genus Acanthomyops to a subgenus of Lasius.

I think it's safe to move Acanthomyops into Lasius (I can do it later tonight if needed...writing this in a hurry)

Done
I hope everyone agrees with the placement.

I thank you
along with George Waldren for your help in fixing the taxomony of this group. I am very much in agreement on the placement.
