Cyclocephala borealis and Anomala orientalis?

yes. caught in the act of sensless misagenation
*

LOL!
Well, maybe the offspring will fly back overseas where they belong:-)

What offspring?
Aren't these both males?

yes they are... i'm not going there...
[another possibility being YY-chromosome progeny... won't work in beetles, though]

NYC Parks
So Cyclocephala borealis is the correct ID for the bigger fellow? I'd be interested to know how to tell C. borealis from others in the genus.

I have found both behaviors to be not uncommon in NYC Parks.

FYI - I googled "misagenation" because I wasn't sure of the definition. This page was the first record in the search! It's spelled "miscegenation".

(Let me know if this has become inappropriate for BugGuide, I'll frass the image.)

thanx for correcting my spelling
(i only heard the word used once in O Brother, Where Art Thou?)
