Spicebush Caterpillar
Spicebush caterpillars have a white mark in the "eye," giving it the impression of a reflection. One of my Spicebush cats was orange like your's, but after pupating, my orange cat did not make it. I do not know why or if the color is even connected.

Spice Bush Caterpillar
Hi, Robert Lord Zimlich:
Thanks you for ID-ing the caterpillar.
My cat wandered onto the property three days ago.
Been trying to find what it needs to eat.
He's been resting on the old tree stump eating at the moss a bit.
He seems to be getting smaller in size too.
Thanks again.

I don't think they eat much else. Judging from its size, it may well be ready to pupate.
