Size: approx 4"
I took this picture at night on my sidewalk. I am really curious if this thing is poisonous since I found it close to where my kids play.

Satan's foetus!
It's not poisonous, just really wierd looking.
They are also called Potato Bugs, and are famous.
They even have their own website.

There are several common names...
along with 'potato bug'. Jerusalem Cricket is another and is used more on BugGuide.

Also commonly called Jerusalem crickets "Stenopelmatus" genus. They are harmless.
