Usually found
in clumps of Vine Muhly Grass. All that I've ever found were associated with this grass, so I asume it's the prefered food plant (?). The other details vary, but generally they are also associated prickly things such as Cacti, prickly shrubs, Yucca, Agave, Sotol, or even clumps of Thistles. They are most often found in shallow arroyos or at the base of rocky slopes in desert grassland.

Very ellusive creatures. The females will dive into the vegetation headfirst to escape (but are more sluggish than males). Males are little gymnasts and will dodge around expertly, or fly to another clump of vegetation; or, if that fails they'll use the same trick as the females.
