Wolf Spider? - Zoropsis spinimana

Wolf Spider? - Zoropsis spinimana
Santa Clara, Santa Clara County, California, USA
October 15, 2008
Size: 1.5inches
Found in my sons bed room. Scared the living daylights out of him. We got him on one of our plant sticks and it actually hung on a stran of silk. Photo 1 of 2

False Wolf Spider?
How about Zoropsis spinimana, or something in that genus? We don't have any great images of this species, and certainly no great eye arrangments like this one. Try googling the species and comparing with what you find there. Esp these

I agree. This was a good fin
I agree. This was a good find.

Nice find, Lynette -
that sure looks close to me...

Fishing Spider?
Looks like Dolomedes, but not sure which one. Maybe an immature?

Did your measurement include legs? Normally, measurement should just be the body.

size
1.5inch did include legs. I should have put a quarter down beside the spider but I was to creeped out. I'm still trying to not have rubber legs while shooting arachnids. :)

Not an expert -
but the only species of Dolomedes in our CA list is D. triton, which doesn't seem to match this spider too well (although I'm not sure what the immatures look like)... Could this still be a wolf spider with relatively small posterior median eyes? Some other family?
