Crossidius on Isocoma - Crossidius suturalis

Crossidius on Isocoma - Crossidius suturalis
Black Canyon, Yavapai County, Arizona, USA
September 27, 2008
Size: 13 mm
Visiting flowers of Isocoma acradenia (Alkali Goldenbush - Asteraceae). Looks most like C. pulchellus except for pattern on pronotum.

Moved
Moved from Crossidius.

this one is a little tough as
this one is a little tough as indicated, but I'm pretty confident its C. suturalis.

My first impression was Cross
My first impression was Crossidius punctatus. The red on the dull pronotum is not uncommon, the elytra are testaceous with obvious costae. Then I saw where you caught it and I believe its too far south for that species. C. pulchellus would be in the area, but generally has a shiny black pronotum with some testaceous color on the sides. I don't believe you would have visible costae either. I can rule out C. hirtipes and suturalis. The expected forms of C. coralinus would be red, so I don't know what you have!
