Bug of Bostons - Scutigera coleoptrata

Bug of Bostons - Scutigera coleoptrata
Bloomfield Hills, Oakland County, Michigan, USA
August 1, 2008
Size: .5 to 1.5 inches in lengt
These bugs have been in our house since we bought it in 1995. They appear sporadically through the year and in different places in the house and on any type surface (find them on walls or ceilings as well as the floor). They move very quickly and are disgusting to kill, although kill very easily with just any slight pressure. They don't appear to bite.
I never had seen them prior to this house and also have never seen them outside of this house.

Please help me to identify it and understand if it's only a nuisance or should I be more concerned.

Thank you.

Common House Centipede help
Having Common House centipedes is an indicator of other insects living in your home. I recommend not killing them because they are fairly harmless, and will eat cockroaches, crickets, and other harmfull or annoying pests.
