New one for me
Nice find, Tom.

Thanks Jim
I found this one in the wet clump of grass, just holding onto a blade. I see you haven't slowed down either. It looks like your trap works good on the beetles.

Which trap?
I'm guessing you mean my UV light/moth sheet. I've been trapping dung beetles lately with a covered, baited pitfall trap and have recently completed a supercharged dung beetle attractor that I'll take with me for the Maine Coleoptera Blitz in Arcadia National Park July 15-18. I'm a little leery of trying it in a residential neighborhood (the smell), although I've had good luck with my normal version of covered, baited pitfall trap. I had a surprise last time I used it. When I peered in, there was the mother of all dung be... wait a second, *that's* a broadnecked root borer! I hardly think it was attracted to the bait, just took an oafish tumble into the trap. I've also taken spiders and ground beetles.

You do it the smart way, you
You do it the smart way, you let the beetles come to you, I go walking around in fields and woods and swat mosquitos and pick off ticks. But it's worth it, and I like to walk.
Have fun up in Maine at the Blitz. Wish I could go up there, but tomorrow I'm going to Colorado for a week, with a group from the Mass Butterfly Club. You know I'll be looking for more than butterflies.
