Tibicen lyricen nymph - Tibicen lyricen - female

Tibicen lyricen nymph - Tibicen lyricen - Female
Lowell/St. Patrick Cemetery, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
July 6, 2005
Size: 30 mm
Despite the fact that it was in the 60's and cloudy and cool, the Tibicen lyricens were emerging in full force today. This you can see a seam forming in this T. lyricen nymph's nympal shell where it will split soon. First it must climb a tree.

Cool sequence, Gerry
You certainly have patience!

Thanks Troy.
I just dig these insects. Have since I was ten years old. Maybe it's because cicadas remind me of happier times when I was a wee one.
