Robber Fly - Tipulogaster glabrata

Robber Fly - Tipulogaster glabrata
Henryetta, Okmulgee County, Oklahoma, USA
July 7, 2005
Size: 20mm
I think that this must be the same individual who came to my black light last night and stayed all day. I found him this morning dead and thought it was a great opportunity to get some detailed shots. However after I took this shot a gust of wind blew it to the ground at which time an amber ant grabbed it. I fought with the ant for about 30 seconds, then decided that it needed the fly more than I did.
