I have a heck of a time telling these two types of Paper wasps apart.

Moved
Moved from Polistes.

Polistes carolina or perplexus, male (TX)
You are getting a good variety of species!

Over a couple days .
Many of my wasp pictures (and most of those posted here at Bugguide) were flying around some goldenrod in my back yard over a period of a couple days. I was astounded that I could sit there by the goldenrod, rotate my angle of view and take pictures of 6 or 7 completely different species of wasps along with some green metallic bees, honeybees and tiny as yet unidentified bugs. I don't know why they liked my little patch of yellow flowers so much but it sure was fun sitting there seeing all these beautiful creatures. I was real happy they pretty much ignored my presence so close to them. The front of my macro lens is only about 5 inches away on most shots as I try to get maximum magnification and detail.

Linking is reserved for images of the same exact individual insect. Not same species, same actual insect. Please unlink these, then tag and relink images of individuals.

RE: Linking
Thanks for the heads-up, John. As I said, I'm new here and trying to learn the rules. Unlinking in process ..

No problem
If you want to show another image you can always use a "thumb:" instead of linking.

RE: Linking
I may bang my shins a bit feeling my way, lol, but this is such a fantastic site I really want to be a contributor with quality photos. I'm ALWAYS willing to learn just about anything. Thanks for any and all help.

Check the Help tab
It's really helpful - sort of a mini manual. BTW, Thom, I'm enjoying your nice wasp images.
