Orchestes testaceus (=canus) - really?

Most (all?) of the current European checklists I've seen [e.g. here] lists Orchestes canus as jr. synonym of O. testaceus, but I'm wondering if that's really correct. The NA lists I've seen (generally older) consider it valid - followed here for now.

Assuming this photo is correct: compare O. testaceus (looks reasonable from the name and makes sense why alni and testaceus might be confused) to the type of O. canus - I'm skeptical

See also this - both testaceus and calceatus are shown - considered conspecific in above linked list - quite different in appearance and neither are a particularly good match for the type of canus. I could be wrong.
