Saw several of these in my garage yesterday, can anyone tell me what it is? - Steatoda grossa

Size: like a large ladybug
This guys is about the size of a 50 cent piece legs included. The body is about the size of a large ladybug. I don't recall seeing one like this before, but sirred up 3 or 4 sweeping behind some cabinets.

Thanks Lynette. The spiders pictured in your link look very similar to my picture. It's interesting I have lived in the Pacific N.W. My whole life and have never noticed one of these before.

They stay quite hidden
but they are abundant, at least in my area. Here's a big one I found

These aren't something to worry about, just wear your gloves when digging into the outdoor woodpile and places like that. Most spiders like this one have to be grabbed before they will bite a person.
