Flies - Penthetria heteroptera - Male Female
Oakland, Garrett County, Maryland, USA
November 2, 2008
Size: see notes
The larger (female i'm guessing) was about an inch. These little black flies get all over my porch, and sun on the railings.

Moved
Moved from Penthetria. This seems to be a fall species.

Moved
Moved from March Flies.

March Flies
Look like March Flies--Bibionidae-- Some are out early in the year--hence "March Flies--but some are out late in the year as well. The pesty "love bugs" of Florida are in this group. See "Plecia" in the guide.

lol!
they are either 4 months early or 8 months LATE!

Hey, love conquers all!
