Alsophila pometaria - Fall Cankerworm Moth - Hodges#6258 Moth laying eggs - Alsophila pometaria - Female
Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada
October 19, 2008
Size: 4 mm
Wingless Female mates with the winged male, and immediately lays eggs, (very hard eggs).
The eggs will end up being those cankerworm moths that infest our trees (the ones we band) in the spring.
When squashed, the eggs (immediately laid)are a very bright light green (just like the caterpillar).
Thanks John Maxwell for ID'ing for me. :)
