Explanation of Names
From John Pinto: "The original spelling was with one n -- and was a common variant for the state back then -- so I adopted that in my 1991 revision. I probably shouldn't have since the double n had become dominant." (pers. comm. to =v= 11/09/09)
Identification
Long and slender, uniformly dull black with sparse pubescence. Pronotum square-shaped, with rounded anterior angles.
Season
Adults present mid-summer through fall. July-November (North Carolina).
Food
Associated with Asteraceae, such as goldenrods and asters. Sometimes a pest of crops, such as beets, potatoes, tomatoes.
