brown butterfly - Pyrgus albescens

brown butterfly - Pyrgus albescens
tucson, pima County, Arizona, USA

Size: 1/2 inch
Perched on a chocolate flower. What kind of butterfly?

Either
P. communis or P. albescens - supposedly not possible to tell apart except by dissection. Regardless, a beautiful image.

based on location
P. albescens is the more likely candidate.

Very nice photo -
of what I believe is one of the checkered skippers - probably P. communis?

....
White Checkered Skipper. I have seen these skippers this past summer.
